Fellowship Regulations — Public Summary

Eligibility before payment, accurate status use, renewal, conduct and fair review.

Admission

  • The applicant applies directly; no proposer, referee or nomination is required.
  • The published criteria and evidence rules apply equally to Members and non-members.
  • Finance, donation, sponsorship and purchases play no part in approval.
  • Only an approved applicant receives an annual or Life subscription offer.

Active status

  • Status activates when the approved applicant accepts the regulations and completes the selected subscription.
  • Annual status requires renewal; Life status satisfies future annual subscriptions under its terms.
  • Post-nominal and directory use follow the current brand and verification rules.
  • Benefits do not include guaranteed office, work, publication, speaking or award outcomes.

Version control

Material changes to eligibility or assessment identify an approval date, effective date and transitional rule. They apply to applications submitted under the new version and do not retrospectively invalidate a properly obtained active status.

Conduct, decisions and review

Fraud, serious misconduct, sanctions or material misuse may lead to proportionate interim restriction, suspension or removal. The person receives the substance of the concern and a fair chance to respond. Adverse and conflicted decisions have an independent review route where practicable.

Fellowship is an Academy membership status awarded after published eligibility and evidence checks. It is not a degree, statutory registration, professional licence, public office, royal honour or equivalence to a fellowship awarded by another institution.
