Research and Publications

UKAAS publications use defined editorial categories, named responsibility and durable records for sources, review, funding and correction.

Researchers examining evidence for publication

Publication categories

  • Institutional reports and policy statements.
  • Working-group reports and consultation responses.
  • Proceedings, lectures and event resources.
  • Reviews, perspectives and interdisciplinary essays.
  • Methods, guidance and professional knowledge resources.

Authorship and contribution

Named authors should have made a substantial contribution and accept responsibility for the work. Editorial, technical, funding and other contributions are identified separately where relevant.

Review status

The publication states whether it received editorial review, expert review, external peer review or institutional approval. Review language is not used to imply a process that did not occur.

Research and publication integrity

  • Sources and methods sufficient for the claims made.
  • Permissions for third-party material and personal data.
  • Funding, affiliations and conflict disclosures.
  • No fabrication, falsification, plagiarism or misleading image manipulation.
  • Correction, expression of concern, retraction or withdrawal where justified.
