Academy Membership

Academy Membership is a paid participation relationship for people who wish to engage with lectures, disciplinary networks, communications and selected member opportunities. It carries no academic post-nominal and is not a pathway, prerequisite or advantage in Fellowship assessment.

Fellowship

Fellowship recognises a sustained record of achievement and a meaningful contribution beyond the ordinary expectations of the candidate's role. Direct applicants, nominated candidates and people identified by the Academy are considered under the same published standard.

There is no charge to apply for, be assessed for or hold Fellowship. Fellowship cannot be purchased.

Honorary Fellowship

Honorary Fellowship is a distinct honorary appointment for exceptional standing and public contribution. It is not open to self-application and requires confidential consideration, due diligence, internal approval and the recipient's acceptance.

Institutional separation

Membership status, subscriptions, donations, sponsorship and commercial participation are excluded from Fellowship assessment. Assessors receive only the professional evidence and information required for their authorised role.

Common questions

Must I be an Academy Member before applying for Fellowship?

No. Members and non-members are eligible to enter the same Fellowship assessment, and membership status is not shown to assessors.

Can Fellowship be purchased or renewed by payment?

No. UKAAS charges no application, assessment, appointment, annual or lifetime Fellowship fee.

Governance

Membership, Fellowship and Honorary Fellowship are governed by their respective published terms, regulations and standards.
