Fellowship

Fellowship recognises an established body of work and a contribution beyond the ordinary expectations of a role. It is open internationally and across the Academy's academic, creative, technical, professional and public-service fields.

• A sustained record of achievement in one or more fields represented by the Academy.
• A verifiable contribution to knowledge, culture, professional practice, industry, public service or society.
• Normally around ten years of substantial practice, or a shorter record with unusually clear reach or impact.
• Good professional standing and acceptance of the Code of Conduct.
• No UK residence, doctorate, university appointment, staff-management title or prior UKAAS Membership is required.

Fellowship combines a verifiable Academy status with access to a multidisciplinary community. Opportunities are published as they become available and do not guarantee appointment, funding, publication or office.

• An active Fellowship record and approved use of FAAS(UK).
• Optional extended Directory profile with field, Fellowship year, biography, image and selected links.
• Fellow communications and invitations to designated lectures, roundtables and interdisciplinary discussions.
• Eligibility to respond to published calls for speakers, reviewers, working groups, mentoring and public-engagement activity.
• Published Fellow rates for selected events, programmes and publications where offered.

Evidence is assessed in the context of the applicant's field, career route and opportunity. Applicants should select records that establish their principal claims rather than submit an indiscriminate portfolio.

• Research and education — publications, funded work, methods, supervision, curriculum, translation or scholarly leadership.
• Arts and culture — works, exhibitions, performances, commissions, criticism, collections or cultural leadership.
• Professional and clinical practice — specialist responsibility, standards, service development, outcomes, education or sector influence.
• Industry and technology — products, patents, systems, entrepreneurship, adoption, technical leadership or measurable public value.
• Policy and public service — policy development, institutional reform, advisory work, civic leadership or sustained service.
• Suitable records include a CV, selected outputs, independent records, adoption or outcome data, awards, appointments and authoritative links.

Fellowship is a direct application. The application opens on a separate secure page and may be completed without a proposer, nomination or reference letter.

• Review the published threshold and choose the evidence most relevant to it.
• Provide legal identity and contact details, current position or practice, principal field and career summary.
• Submit a concise account of sustained achievement, contribution and impact with a current CV or professional record.
• Add selected documents or authoritative links supporting the material claims.
• Complete the accuracy, conduct, conflict, sanctions and privacy declarations.
• Submit the application to receive a reference; no application fee is charged.

The assessment determines whether the published Fellowship threshold is met. It is not a ranking exercise, popularity vote or paid upgrade.

• Administrative review confirms completeness, identity, declarations and category eligibility.
• A trained reviewer considers achievement, contribution, evidence and professional standing in the relevant field context.
• Material claims may be verified and the applicant may be asked for focused clarification.
• A second authorised reviewer considers adverse, conflicted or borderline cases.
• The recorded outcome is approval, a request for further information or reasoned non-approval.

There is no application fee and no subscription is collected before approval. An approved applicant may choose Annual Fellowship at £240 / 12 months or Life Fellowship at £4,500 / one-time.

• Status activates only after the approved applicant accepts the Fellowship Regulations and completes the selected subscription.
• Annual Fellowship runs for 12 months and remains active through timely renewal and continuing compliance.
• Life Fellowship satisfies future annual subscriptions under its governing terms; it does not prevent conduct-based suspension or removal.
• The £3,000 / one-time loyalty Life option becomes available after ten consecutive years as an Active Fellow.
• Payment capacity, donations, sponsorship and purchases are irrelevant to the eligibility decision.

Active Annual Fellows and Life Fellows may use FAAS(UK) after their name in professional and academic contexts. Honorary Fellows use the same approved post-nominal, while the Directory states the precise status held.

• Use begins only after activation and ends if the status lapses, is suspended, is removed or is relinquished.
• The post-nominal identifies UKAAS Fellowship only and must not be presented as a degree, regulated qualification, professional licence or public honour.
• The Directory provides the public verification route; optional biography, image and links require separate authority.

Fellowship is an Academy membership status awarded after published eligibility and evidence checks. It is not a degree, statutory registration, professional licence, public office, royal honour or equivalence to a fellowship awarded by another institution.

• A review may address a material process error, overlooked evidence, undisclosed conflict or decision outside the published criteria.
• A review is not a new application and should identify the disputed point and supporting record.
• Where practicable, an authorised person not responsible for the original adverse decision conducts the review.
• A fresh application may be made later where the record of achievement or available evidence has materially developed.
